Hello $NICK_NAME$

Thankyou to Rotary Whitehorse Farmers Market (club) team yesterday: Bruce, Greg, Ashley, Malcolm, Julian.

Update from Inara, on Rotary Youth Exchange in Finland:

"I have two host clubs, RC Lahti and RC Nastola. I have arrived at my first host family after the orientation camp (which was really fun), and have been here for just under a week. I start school on Jan 31."

Rubbish removal work has commenced at Dunlavin Rd ahead of renovation and healthAbilty Men's Shed relocation. Conversations continue with local Rotary clubs and Blackburn South Community Bank re potential resource enhancement.

Well done team as we continue to shine "the magic of Rotary".

Enjoying Lunar New Year 2025  celebrations at Box Hill while making known Box Hill Central Rotary: supporting communities near and far, and sharing business cards.
Our board has approved $10,736 sponsorship of the Mat Life Skills Program at Roberts McCubbin Primary School providing 32 sessions in 2025.

The MAT Life Skills Program is an active modality that combines the principles of physical and mental wellbeing with those of therapeutic martial art training techniques. Its format engages and empowers young people to learn life skills and to better manage the challenges in their lives.

Well done Community Services Chair Malcolm, in facilitating this connection.

Why are we participating in the Community Employment Partnership?

People with intellectual disability are significantly underrepresented when it comes to paid work and are often excluded from the many benefits that employment can provide. Many people use and rely on their networks and connections to find employment however, due to a life often segregated from the community, they do not have the same opportunities to make social connections in the same way we do.

CEP is seeking to harness the power of Rotarians and their networks to source potential employers.   Rotarians and their networks have successfully found work for a number of people, often it is their first job, and has transformed their lives and developed their skills and confidence.

For further information or you know a business that may be interested in employing one of our jobseekers, contact Patricia Wilson on 0432189323 or cep@belongingmatters.org
2024 was a busy year for The Community Employment Partnership (CEP), with the ongoing support of Rotary clubs a number of people have found jobs.  Tasveena and Emily both found jobs through the networks of Rotary members of Box Hill Central club.   Tas has been delivering the pamphlets at Woodards Blackburn for nearly a year now.  Tas found this role through Rotarian Julian Badenach.   This flexible role fits in perfectly with Tas’s studies and she can meet the needs of Woodards of delivery the pamphlets as they become available.   Emily has been working at Women’s Health East since as an Administration assistant thanks to former member Olive Aumann who has a connection at this organisation and organised for CEP to chat to them.

Thank you to all the members at Box Hill Central who have made CEP a welcome part of your club and we look forward to further collaboration in 2025.

Watch this short video of Emily at work, with thanks to Olive & Women’s Health East.

Please advise any changes/swaps or regular inabilities to Greg Cooper greg@cnre.com.au.   Thank for your volunteer service.
