Conversations continuing with Community Employment Partnerships & Whitehorse Cluster Rotary Clubs.
Did you know that people with intellectual disability are one of the most underemployed groups of people in Australia with only 16% employed in the open market? Often people with an intellectual disability are in a permanent cycle of job training, job courses and work experience without these experiences ever leading to meaningful employment The Rotary Community Employment Partnership is changing attitudes and building opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to work in mainstream employment - real work, for real pay. You can help by introducing the project to business owners in your network and inviting them to have a conversation with Jenny or Pat from Belonging Matters, our project partners. You might think about your business networks and the businesses you connect with everyday e.g., the local café, local nursery, mechanic or even your hairdresser etc. You could even discuss the idea with your family, friends, and neighbours! For some ideas and tips, head to the project website, www.communityemploymentpartnership.org
