We welcomed District Governor Elect Colin Byron to our meeting. Colin will be the inaugural DG in District 9815 (merger of D9810 & D9820) from next July.  Colin was  employed nearby in Blackburn Nth with Hewlett Packard for several years.

Victorian Police Aboriginal Diversity Recruitment Program:
The Victoria Police Aboriginal Diversity Recruitment Program is designed to support both metro and regional applicants. The eligibility is over 18 years of age, identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and interested in a career with Victoria Police. Applications are open until the end of September, with the Course starting in November 2023.
 
The Course runs for 3 nights a week for 15 weeks, with the Tuesday night in person at VU Footscray for metro applicants (online for regional applicants) and Wednesday/Thursday online, with local gym/fitness sessions, Mentors and attendance at activities including a tour of the Academy and mock exam.
 
The benefits for Program Participants are:
•       Completion of accredited 15 week Course in Policing Recruitment Pathways through Victoria University and First Aid certificate
•       Opportunity to develop academic and fitness knowledge from personal instructors
•       Access to a range of guest speakers from across Victoria Police
•       Guidance and support from a Mentor at Victoria Police
•       Payment of Victoria Police entrance exam ($220)
•       Support to start a career with Victoria Police at each step of the recruitment process
•       Connection to other career options if Victoria Police application is not successful
•       There is no cost to participate (aside from travel if required)
 
 
Tony Stokes, encourages members to watch Sound Of Freedom and bring your questions on Sep 27, when Tony addresses the club as Southern Area Coordinator (AUS), Rotary Action Group Against Slavery. It is currently screening in cinemas for a limited time.
